The Mbira Academy is continuing to develop links and forge new partnerships with schools, colleges and universities within Devon and as far apart as England and Zimbabwe.

Chartwell has developed a portfolio of work in schools and universities where he draws on his experience of growing up in rural, segregated Zimbabwe to build bridges between cultures and make links between contemporary Zimbabwe and life in Britain today. His education work is informed by his experience as an ethnomusicologist and incorporates music, song and dance.

Over the next few years the Academy will be expanding the education programme to include a week-long residential course for ethnomusicology students and cultural exchange opportunities for students from Devon and Zimbabwe.
