Mhararano Mbira Academy is delighted to be working with Park School, Dartington and Cockwood School, Dawlish on an exciting programme of work. The two schools came together for the first time at the Academy launch day in January with students from both schools joining together for workshops and performances. The aim of Mhararano now is to nurture this link between these diverse Devon schools, Park School which is an 'alternative' school providing 'Human Scale Education' and Cockwood which is a State Primary School.
The Academy runs a regular programme of activities with Park School students including workshop sessions lead by Chartwell at the school and regular visits to the Academy for Mbira/Singing/Dance/Rhythm and Percussion courses.
Mhararano Academy is facilitating a new cultural exchange programme between Cockwood School, Devon and Mhararano’s sister Academy based in the Zambuko Cultural Centre, Zimbabwe. In addition to this exciting link, ongoing workshop sessions lead by Chartwell at the school and regular visits to the Academy for Mbira/Singing/Dance/Rhythm and Percussion courses have been planned throughout the year.
