The Mhararano Mbira Academy founded by Chartwell Dutiro, based in the grounds of the beautiful Dartington Trust Estate, this week launched their new 2013/14 prospectus.

The diverse and jam packed programme offers students the opportunity to enrol in year long, 6 month, and weekly courses or sign up for daily workshops and classes. The popular Mbira camps led by Chartwell that take place all over the world including Germany, Zimbabwe, Scotland and Devon will also continue.

The Academy offers students young and old the opportunity to learn a range of skills across many different disciplines, centred around the African heritage and Zimbabwean culture and the musical roots of the Mbira instrument.

Talking about the new programme Chartwell said;
My academy aims to bring people together to provide a learning environment where they can share philosophical beliefs and experience ritual through the languages of music, literature, poetry, storytelling, visual arts, dance, drama and film. I am very excited to be launching our new programme of work with my team of associate artists and practitioners. The programme, I hope, offers a nice diverse range of creative opportunities for everyone.”
